MJF is one of the best homegrown talents in AEW history. He was also one of the most beloved wrestlers on the roster due to his entertaining antics on the mic. His rise in popularity saw him win the AEW World Championship in controversial fashion.
MJF would go on to become the longest reigning AEW World Champion in history before he eventually lost the title to Samoa Joe. Following the match, MJF was betrayed by his friend Adam Cole.
Since losing the title, MJF has not appeared on television and rumors started doing the rounds that MJF might be leaving the company and heading to WWE. This was in line with many of his segments where he indicated that he would start a “bidding war” when his contract was up in 2024.
There were also rumors that MJF and Tony Khan had a falling out earlier this week. However, Fightful Select has now confirmed that this is not the case. The report also confirms that the former AEW World Champion has been nursing his many injuries and will most certainly not make an appearance in the Royal Rumble match this weekend.
“There were untrue rumors that picked up saying that MJF and Tony Khan had a falling out this past week. MJF is still recovering from injuries, and barring some catastrophic miracle, won’t be in the WWE Royal Rumble.”
It looks like that settles the curiosity surrounding MJF’s absence on AEW television. Being a World Champion must’ve taken a huge toll on him and he just needs to recover from his injuries.
