CM Punk made his shocking resurgence back to WWE in November 2023 with only one objective in mind. Moreover, the Best in the World recently revealed that it has always been the goal for him ever since he started in the wrestling business.

During a recent appearance in a vlog posted by WWE, Punk opened up about the one accomplishment that has eluded his wrestling career and that has been headlining the Grandest Stage of them all, WrestleMania.

Punk mentioned that it was always on his list to be in the main event of the Show of Shows, calling it the path gone down by legendary stars in not only wrestling but other sports as well.

“It has always been the goal. “I watched guys like Bret Hart do it multiple times. So to me, as a kid growing up, I’m no different than a kid [who] watched Wayne Gretzky skate and wanted to put on a pair of skates. I’m no different than somebody who watched Michael Jordan and was like, ‘I love basketball. I want to follow in his footsteps.”

The record-breaking former WWE champion further continued:

“I’m just walking the path that great legends before me helped pave, and I want to accomplish the same things that they did. I want to breathe that air that they breathe at the highest mountaintop.”

During his time away from WWE, Punk once labeled his entire WWE career a failure due to his inability to main event WrestleMania. However, he now has the opportunity to claim the one accolade missing from his illustrious resume when CM Punk enters the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble match this Saturday, ten years to the date of his last televised WWE appearance in the Rumble match itself.
