Moose has remained one of the highlights of TNA Wrestling ever since he made his debut in the company back in 2016. In fact, Moose chose to stick with TNA for the foreseeable future and now he has revealed the reason behind his decision.
Moose has become a valuable asset to the company, winning over fans with his in-ring skills and character work. Known for being outspoken, he doesn’t shy away from calling out things he believes to be untrue, including information about himself.
While speaking with Denise Salcedo, Moose disclosed that his strong relationship with Scott D’Amore played a pivotal role in his decision to stay with TNA Wrestling.
Moose also addressed a tweet about getting into better shape after D’Amore called him chubby, clarifying that their bond goes beyond a typical boss-employee relationship. Moose sees D’Amore as a mentor, friend, and big brother.
“First of all, let me talk about that tweet,” he began. “A lot of people don’t know my relationship with Scott [Scott D’Amore]. Scott is one of the reasons why I decided to stay with TNA and not leave. One of the biggest reasons was my relationship with Scott. He plays the role of my boss. He also plays the role of mentor, friend, and a big brother. That’s one thing I’m never going to get with wherever I decide to go, if I were to leave TNA. With that tweet, Scott was like, ‘Don’t tell people I called you chubby, I don’t want to get canceled.’‘
Despite the comment about his physique, Moose appreciates the honesty, recognizing that it motivated him to make positive changes. Moose further added that such a dynamic is unique and wouldn’t be replicated elsewhere if he were to leave TNA.
”I understand where we are in 2024, but that was the truth. If you didn’t tell me that, that wouldn’t give me the fire to make the change. I don’t mind you tell me that. I love you telling me that. I’m the only person he would ever say that to. He would never say that to anybody else but me because of our relationship. I wasn’t going to go into the rebrand of TNA looking how I looked in that picture. I was going to try and make my main event of the first-ever rebrand TNA pay-per-view, I was going to try ad come in looking the best possible shape I could be in, god damn it really I don’t see it here.”
Moose signed a new contract with TNA Wrestling last year and is now the TNA World Champion after defeating Alex Shelly at Hard to Kill. We will have to wait and see how he will remain booked as the champion in the coming months.
