William Regal Makes Surprise Appearance During 1/23 WWE NXT Episode

William Regal played an instrumental role during NXT’s black and gold days. He acted as the General Manager of the brand and was also a key figure backstage who played a key role in the development of the younger talent.

However, over a year ago, Regal was released from the WWE and he went on to AEW. His stint in AEW only lasted nine months and he returned to the WWE shortly after but remained off television since his return.

During tonight’s episode of WWE, William Regal made a surprise appearance after nearly two years when he walked out of Shawn Michaels’ room with Ava Raine. Regal congratulated Ava on becoming the youngest GM in NXT and told her to take care of the brand because she will need to make some tough decisions. Ava sounded confident enough to handle her new responsibility. Regal also mentioned that he will always be available to help her whenever she needed.

It will be interesting to see what sort of role Ava plays as the new General Manager of NXT in the weeks to come.
