On a previous week’s Friday Night SmackDown, the match between Carmelo Hayes and Austin Theory took a surprising turn when a mishap occurred during a fall from the top rope. Theory suffered a concussion but he is set to make his in-ring return and now he has commented on the same.
The referee signaled for the “X” position, indicating a potential injury, and waved off the match. It was reported that both wrestlers suffered facial contusions as a result of the spot.
Carmelo Hayes made a return to action during the latest episode of NXT but Austin Theory couldn’t compete on last week’s SmackDown. It was also reported that Austin Theory suffered a concussion after that scary spot.
Austin Theory took to his Instagram and uploaded a video, confirming that he will be squaring off against Carmelo Hayes on the January 26th episode of Friday Night SmackDown.
Despite Grayson’s suggestion to pull out, Theory is determined to be Mr. All Day and handle business in the ring. He dismissed the critics on the internet, emphasizing that he’s ready to face Carmelo Hayes and promises that A-Town will put it down in Miami.
“Hey, so this Friday… I’m a busy man, I’ve already said that, very busy. I actually pulled Grayson aside and I told him everything, and he was like ‘I’m so sorry, man, I didn’t realize how hard Austin Theory actually has to work, all the places you gotta be, all the people you have to be there for.’‘
“I was like, ‘Hey man, you know all these keyboard warriors on the internet, in their mom’s basement, eating cheese sticks all day, they don’t know a day of hard work. They just go ‘you don’t have potential, you don’t have what it takes’, but you know what, they have the ability to know how it looks to be a damn bean bag chair, so congrats to them.”
“But Grayson was like ‘you know what, let’s get you out of this match’, and I said no, because I’m Mr. All Day. So, I’m going to be there on Friday in Miami, and Carmelo (Hayes), you keep saying you’re him, you’re him, well, guess what? When all the greats come back they want to be in the ring with me, they want their 15 seconds of fame, and I give it to them, and that’s a fact because I’m Austin Theory.”
“Just remember, the last time we were in the ring we were both down, but we both walked out, we did. This time you’re the only one that’s going to be down and I’m the only one that’s walking out. Because A-Town is going to put it down.”
It is good to know that Austin Theory is now fit and well enough to compete inside the squared circle again. For his sake, we certainly hope he doesn’t sustain any injury again this week.
