In the midst of the Continental Classic, a compelling storyline unfolded in the Blue League, featuring Eddie Kingston and Bryan Danielson.

Despite initially losing to Danielson in the tournament, Kingston managed to avenge his defeat by triumphing over him in the Blue League’s final, eventually winning the tournament and achieving the modern Triple Crown. On the January 20th episode of AEW Collision, Kingston teamed up with Ortiz to face Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli, with Ortiz ending up on the losing side.

Following the intense match, Bryan Danielson displayed his disdain for Eddie Kingston by spitting on him, clearly indicating that their mutual respect had not improved. In a backstage interview conducted after the show, AEW cameras captured Danielson and Castagnoli, and Danielson was asked about his actions and the message he intended to convey to the Continental Classic Champion.

Danielson replied emphatically, “Yeah, I suppose that is the real question. And here’s the thing, Eddie might have won the Continental Classic. Eddie might have beaten me once. He was lucky, but that doesn’t mean that I respect Eddie Kingston. I do not respect Eddie Kingston. You ask me why I spit in his face; it is because I do not respect Eddie Kingston, and he knows that. And he knows that him beating me was a fluke, and he knows that I’m coming for those titles.”
