Logan responded candidly, expressing empathy for the man he had subdued. He acknowledged that the system indeed failed Speight, emphasizing his belief that mentally unstable individuals like Speight need better care and treatment.
“Heavy …. I didn’t know he died. I’d say the system definitely failed him, for sure. I didn’t even know he died, and the first thing I said was, ‘this is obviously an unstable individual, and I’d like to emphasize with him however much I can. Whatever facility, whatever protocol was put in place to try to help this individual obviously failed, and that’s a shame. These aren’t normal individuals. They’re insane, and they need to be treated as such, and they need to be taken care of in a better way.”
