WWE is usually known to change up names of various talent over the years. Two WWE stars have undergone name changes once more after their recent comebacks to the main roster on SmackDown.
Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo rejoined the SmackDown roster after their December 22 appearance, aligning with Santos Escobar and aiding his progression in the US Title Tournament. Naturally, fans wondered if they would still have their own name.
Despite keeping their names initially upon return, it was noted after the January 5 show that Los Lotharios teammates lost their last names in a WWE graphic, now referred to as “Angel & Humberto.”
WWE has officially confirmed the name changes, updating Angel Garza’s profile to “Angel” and Humberto Carrillo’s profile to “Humberto” on their website as well.
Historically, wrestlers often had their names shortened or changed under Vince McMahon’s regime. Although some, like Austin Theory, regained their names with Triple H overseeing creative, the recent changes to Angel and Humberto demonstrate that name-shortening isn’t exclusive to the McMahon era.
