AEW’s roster has suffered quite a few injuries in recent memory. Losing Kenny Omega and others to injury is never good, and now Kota Ibushi has terrible news after his surgery, because it is quite serious.
We previously reported that Kota Ibushi was scheduled for surgery. Now we have an update from the man himself.
Kota Ibushi jumped on Twitter, where he explained how serious his injury is. In a message translated from Japanese, Ibushi revealed that his injury is a total tear, and now he must decide what to do next. His shoulder is also in very rough shape.
“The report was delayed. It appears that the ligament had been completely torn (there were already fewer ligaments in other places), so I was completely immobilized in a cast that came down to just below my knee. Next, I will decide what to do with the left side, and the right one will be coming back every two weeks. My shoulder isn’t in perfect condition either, so I’m planning to fix everything this time. We apologize for the inconvenience. I would like to think about various things later.”
Kota Ibushi could be a primetime player for Tony Khan, if he can stay healthy. Sadly, that did not work out, and he will sit out for a lot of 2024. Hopefully, the next update we get from Kota Ibushi will be a much better one.
Ibushi may require more work to be done at this point, because he has a decision to make on what to do with his left side next. Only time will tell what he ends up doing next, but it won’t happen without a long wait for a return from injury.
