AEW Dynamite Results (1/17/2024):

The opening package for the show airs.

Samoa Joe is shown walking in the back. Hook arrives in the arena.

TNT Championship: Christian Cage (c) vs. Dustin Rhodes

Christian Cage’s music plays and he comes out to the ring with Nick Wayne and Killswitch. Dustin Rhodes’ theme song plays and he walks out to the ring.

The match begins and Cage attacks Dustin in the corner. He knocks him down. Dustin comes back with a powerslam. Cage rolls out of the ring. Cage sent into the post. Dustin sends him into the barricade. Dustin sends Cage into the steel steps and follows it with a clothesline. Dustin sends him into the ring.

Dustin attacks him in the corner. Cage climbs the turnbuckle but is stopped. Cage bounces Dustin’s head off the turnbuckle. Cage dives onto him.

*Commercial break*

Cage goes for a splash and misses. Both men exchange strikes. Dustin with the Manhattan drop followed by a high boot. He then hits a bulldog. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Dustin catapults Cage into the turnbuckle. Dustin then hits the Canadian destroyer. Cover! 1…..2…..kick out.

Dustin goes for the suicide dive but Cage catches him with a right hand. Cage hits a frog splash. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Cage brings the title into the ring but the referee stops him. Dustin rolls up Cage but Nick gets in the ring and turns the tables. Cover! 1….2….kick out.

Cage on the second rope but he is stopped. Dustin kicks Cage and sets him on the top rope. Dustin hits a superplex and follows it with the Cross Rhodes. Cover! 1…..2…..kick out. Nick distracts Dustin. Dustin hits the Canadian destroyer on the floor. Cage sends Dustin into the post. Cage hits the spear on Dustin and follows it with the Killswitch. Cover! 1…..2…..kick out. Cage hits another killswitch for the win.

Winner: Christian Cage (c)

Renee Paquette interviews Swerve Strickland who says he has his eyes everywhere. He says it doesn’t matter who is the AEW Champion. He says everybody is talking about him which makes him the most dangerous man going after the AEW Champion. He says Adam Page is an impeccable champion. He says Page has beaten so many men. He says Page still couldn’t beat him and he could beat him again.

*Commercial break*

Renee interviews Chris Jericho who says tag titles were ripped from their hands. He says Don Callis Family caused Sammy’s injury. He says he is going to get revenge. He says he is going to seek and destroy them. Matt Sydal says he should compete against him to prepare for that match. Jericho says they should compete at Rampage.

Penta El Zero Miedo & Komander vs. Orange Cassidy & Trent Beretta

Orange Cassidy’s music plays and he walks out with Trent Beretta and Chuck Taylor. Lucha Brothers’ theme song plays and they come out with Komander.

The match begins Cassidy and Penta in the ring. Penta superkicks Cassidy sending him out of the ring. Trent knocks down Penta who tags out. Komander knocks down Trent. He then hits a suicide dive on Cassidy. Trent with a half-and-half on Komander. Trent sends Cassidy into the ring. Cover! 1….2….kick out

*Commercial break*

Komander sends Trent over the top rope. Komander tags out and Penta hits the slingblade on Cassidy. Penta with the thrust kick on Trent. Penta hits the made in Japan on Cassidy. Penta tags out. Cassidy hits the DDT on Penta. Cassidy tags out. Trent viciously attacks Komander. Penta hits the Canadian destroyer on Trent. Komander with a splash on him. Cover! 1…..2….Cassidy makes the save. Cassidy sends Penta out of the ring. Komander with the back heel kick. He goes for the Phoenix splash and misses.

Trent hits him with the running knee. Penta with the thrust kick on Trent. Cassidy hits Penta with the beach break. He then hits Komander with the Orange punch and Trent drives him to the mat for the win.

Winner: Orange Cassidy & Trent Beretta

Undisputed Kingdom’s music plays and they walk out to the ring. Roderick Strong gets on the mic and says he wanted to say something Cassidy to his face. He orders Cassidy to take his glasses. He says they can end him now but they won’t do that. Strong says Cassidy has been a fighting champion but he decided not to defend his title. He asks if it is because he is coming for the title and Cassidy can’t face it. He says he is coming for the title.

Cassidy says they can compete right here and now. Strong says not now. He says Cassidy will have to wait till Revolution because he wants him to live with the fact that Cassidy is keeping his title warm.

Renee interviews Adam Page who says no one cared more about the AEW Championship more than him. He says he wants to win the AEW Championship and he will hold it for as long as he can. Page says Swerve thinks about him but he doesn’t think about him at all. He says Swerve is not the World Champion. He says he will be watching tonight’s main event.

Mark Briscoe’s music plays and he comes out. Mark says he is representing the Briscoe Brothers. He says his brother passed away a year ago. He says his nieces were in the truck with them. He remembers how they told his niece she would never walk again. His nieces and nephew come out. He says they are the Briscoes and they never stop believing.

Renee interviews the Young Bucks. Nick asks Renee to call them by their God-given names. He says they are the Vice Presidents here and it’s time to take this thing seriously. Matt says the rumors are fake. He asks Renee what she would do to protect her baby. Matt asks he would do all this again if he had to. Matt says when they started AEW it was their mission to change the world. He says they were doing that for a while but they lost their way. He says it is because they leaned on yesterday’s superstars.

He says Sting is great and is a role model employee. He says it is about what Sting represents and says it isn’t in line with what they wanted to do here in AEW. He says they need to say goodbye to Sting. Nick says they will pull some strings and leave for a meeting.

ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship: Gates of Agony & Brian Cage (c) vs. Bullet Club Gold

Bullet Club Gold’s music plays and they walk out to the ring. Mogul Embassy’s theme song plays and they walk out to the ring.

The match begins with Jay White and Toa Liona. White chops Liona. He hits him with multiple clotheslines but Liona knocks him down. Liona attacks White in the corner. Bishop Kaun tags in and hits a senton on White.

White comes back with a dragon scew and he tags out. Colten attacks Kaun in the corner and he tags out. Austin goes for a splash and misses. Cage tags in and superkicks Austin. Cage attacks him in the corner and hits a German suplex. Kaun tags in and hits a backstabber on Austin. Cover! 1….2….kick out.

*Commercial break*

Colten hits Liona with a dropkick. He attacks Cage in the corner and follows it with a neckbreaker. Colten plants Kaun. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Liona hits Colten with the pounce. Cage hits a powerbomb. Kaun hits the air-raid crash. Cover! 1…..2……Austin and White make the save.

Liona is sent into the timekeeper’s area. White sends Cage into the post. Colten tags out and White chops Kaun multiple times. White with the urinagi. Cage hits White with the clothesline. The Gunns hit him with the 310 To Yuma. Prince Nana distracts White and Kaun hits the gutbuster. Cover! 1….2…kick out. Prince Nana gets in the ring to hit White but Anthony Bowens takes the title away from him. White hits the bladerunner for the win.

Winner: Bullet Club Gold (c)

Adam Cole is backstage with Wardlow. He says Wardlow will now be unbeatable. He says Wardlow will be the most dominant wrestler in AEW. He says Wardlow will run through everyone until there is no one left but the AEW Championship which will be their property.

Toni Storm’s music plays and she walks out.

Anna Jay vs. Deonna Purrazo

Deonna Purrazo’s music plays and she comes out to the ring. Anna Jay’s music hits and she comes down to the ring.

The match starts and Deonna attacks the arm of Anna. Anna with a neckbreaker on Deonna.

Deonna with a clothesline to Anna. She hits her with the side Russian leg sweep. Deonna hits her with the high boot. Anna hits the backstabber on Deonna. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Deonna locks in the armbar but Ann gets to the rope. Both women exchange strikes. Deonna locks in her submission hold and Anna taps out.

Winner: Deonna Purrazo

Renee interviews Deonna who says she doesn’t know what has gotten into Toni. She says they used to be like sisters. She says Toni has changed but so has she. She says Storm has never met the Virtuosa. Toni gets on the mic and says she is a hag. She says her past is none of her concern. She says they must go to a commercial. She throws a shoe at her and Deonna throws it back.

Top Flight vs. Private Party

Private Party’s music plays and they walk out to the ring. Top Flight’s theme song plays and they come out to the ring.

The match starts with Cassidy and Darrius in the ring. Cassidy takes down Darrius. Both men tag out. Dante with the arm drag on Quen. Cassidy tags in and hits a crossbody on Dante. Cassidy takes out Darrius.

*Commercial break*

Darrius goes to work on Cassidy. Darrius tags out. Cassidy sends Dante out of the ring and tags out. Quen hits a suicide dive on Darrius. He then dives onto Dante. Quen then dives onto Darrius again. He then dives onto Dante again. Quen sends Dante into the ring. He climbs the top rope and hits the 450 splash. Cover! 1….2….kick out.

Dante tags out and superkicks Quen. Darrius plants him. Cover! 1…2….Cassidy tags out. Quen dropkicks Darrius. Cassidy hits Dante with an enzuigiri. Private Party hit the Gin and Juice. Quen rolls up Darrius for the win.

Winner: Private Party

Action Andretti comes out and confronts Private Party.

AEW World Championship: Samoa Joe (c) vs. Hook

Hook’s music plays and he walks out to the ring. Samoa Joe’s theme song plays and he comes down to the ring.

The match begins and Hook attacks Joe in the corner. The brawls spills outside the ring. Joe sends Hook into the ring. Joe knocks down Hook. Joe attacks Hook in the corner. Joe with a kick to Hook’s head. Joe with a snapmare and a chop to the neck of Hook. Joe hits an elbow drop. Cover! 1….2….kick.

Hook knocks down Joe and hits a sliding clothesline. Joe rolls out of the ring and Hook attacks him. Joe slams Hook on the announcer’s desk. Hook flips off Joe. Joe powerbombs Hook on the apron. Hook gets back in the ring. Joe hits him with a powerslam. Cover! 1…..2….kick out.

Joe hits the Death Valley Driver. Cover! 1…..2…..kick out. Joe sets up Hook in the corner and hits a muscle buster. Hook fights back and hits a T-bone suplex. Hook goes for the redrum but Joe blocks it and locks in the Coquina clutch and Hook passes out.

Winner: Samoa Joe (c)

Joe gets back in the ring and low blows him. Joe then hits a muscle buster on Hook. Hook is still getting up. Adam Page’s music plays and he runs down to the ring and chases away Joe. Swerve is also present in the crowd.
