Lexis King was Brian Pillman Jr in AEW, and as 1/2 of the Varsity Blondes, he had a lot of fun. Things came to an end with Tony Khan, but there was no shortage of desire to have the 2nd generation star.
Now as King in NXT, he is vying for the top of that roster, and garnering a lot of attention after his much-hyped debut. He was someone that Triple H really wanted around as well.
While speaking to Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Lexis King stated that the deal for WWE came together so quickly after his AEW contract expired that he actually got checks from both companies on the same month.
“It wasn’t so much a decision as it was a necessary transition. I think my time came up in AEW. It was a great run, a great deal financially, I did very well there. It was that doubt about the future about whether they were going to use me and they were going to use me. It became apparent when they didn’t re-sign me. So, god bless the agents who picked up the phone on the day my contract ran up, and they got me signed.”
“I think I got paychecks from both companies in the same month. That’s how quickly the ball got rolling.”
Lexis King is looking to make a lot of noise in NXT, and he is certainly a troublemaker. Only time will tell what is next for him, but he has a ton of eyes on him.
Shawn Michaels is making the most of having Lexis King around. His charisma is undeniable as well, and he is capturing a ton of the spotlight right now. Tony Khan stopped booking him, and did not renew his deal, but WWE had no issue taking him in to help with that transition.
