AEW saw some surprises in recent memory, including Deonna Purrazzo’s debut for the company last week. She even made her in-ring debut last week but she got body-shamed heavily on social media. Now, the Virtuosa clapped back at all of her body-shamers in a big way.
Deonna Purrazzo squared off against Red Velvet in her debut match for the company during last week’s episode of AEW Collision. She would be successful in her debut match as well.
This week, AEW’s official Instagram account took action by restricting comments on a post after instances of body-shaming directed at Deonna Purrazzo regarding the aforementioned match against Red Velvet.
Deonna Purrazzo took to Twitter and hit back at all of her body-shamers. She emphasized her achievements as a 5-time World Champion, her extensive work with major wrestling companies, and her academic pursuits, including earning a bachelor’s degree and considering a Master’s program.
Deonna Purrazzo also highlighted the support from her husband and asserted her self-worth, concluding with a defiant stance against body-shaming.
“Oh, I’ve already seen it.
I had a cry then I realized my worth is NOT determined by 1) my body 2) others perception of me.
I am a 5x World Champion. I have worked with nearly every major company in the world. I am one of the greatest wrestlers in the world.
Furthermore, I just earned my bachelors degree. I am looking to start a Master’s program. AND, MOST IMPORTANTLY, I have a husband who thinks I am beautiful whether I’m a size S or M. (I’ve never ever been a size S.)
They are entitled to their opinion and I’m entitled to tell them to kiss this FAT ass.”
We will have to wait and see how Deonna Purrazzo will be booked in the coming months, as there is no doubt that she is a huge addition to the AEW women’s division already.
