WOW Women of Wrestling doesn’t get as much appreciation as they deserve. The syndicated show actually rakes in more viewers on some weeks than AEW programming, but they don’t get as much of a spotlight. Now, one departing star is giving fans a reason to look in the company’s direction.

Leia Makoa’s appearances on WOW on CW will stop following Reka Tehaka’s announcement of her departure from the company. She expressed gratitude to Selina Majors and AJ Lee as she made her exit.

Tehaka dropped a lengthy text graphic on Instagram to explain her decision. She also expressed gratitude toward WOW for giving a spotlight to women’s wrestling as well.

It is with mixed emotions that I inform you of my departure from WOW (Women of Wrestling). My time at WOW was not just about wrestling. It was a movement of empowering women, creating bonds, teamwork, sacrifice, shared and individual goals and mutual respect. David McLane and Jeanie Buss, thank you and I appreciate the opportunities for growth and development my time at WOW afforded me. Much love to Selena Majors and AJ Mendez for their much guidance and support. To my sisterhood, hair/ makeup, wardrobe and everyone behind the scenes that worked together to make the magic of WOW happen, I appreciate and miss you all. Although I have departed from WOW, I am looking forward to what 2024 will bring. I am open for all bookings.

We will have to see what is next for WOW. AJ Mendez leaving the company was a big blow for them, but she also harbored no ill-will about that exit. Only time will tell what Reka Tehaka does after this as well, but she seems to have a good attitude about the future.
