Sting will wrestle for the last time at AEW Revolution. There are a lot of questions about what will happen next, but fans certainly didn’t expect to see such danger in Daily’s Place for their Homecoming special.
AEW Dynamite this week concluded as The Young Bucks confronted Sting & Darby Allin following Tony Schiavone’s mention of Sting’s last match. Prior to Schiavone’s conversation with Sting, Powerhouse Hobbs & Konosuke Takeshita lost a high-impact match in Daily’s Place to Allin and Sting.
The finale of AEW Dynamite this week featured Sting hitting a Scorpion Death Drop on Hobbs, from the seating area through a table below. That spot nearly missed their two-table set-up while totally avoiding one table as Sting’s head hit the floor.
While speaking on Rock 106.1, Schiavone provided more insight into the closing segment. After all, a number of pro wrestling fans certainly had no issues chiming in.
“When Sting came off (the balcony), did the Scorpio (Death) Drop onto the table. I had gotten up from the broadcast position and walked behind. I watched it on TV because I had to go out and do an interview with him after. I walked out and people were going crazy. I walked in the ring, I stepped in the ring, and Bryce Remsburg, the referee, says, ‘Hang on a second, we’re not so sure how hurt he is.’ I stood there and Bryce said, ‘He’ll be okay.’ Sting got up and looked around, and I had the microphone down, and I said, ‘You’re an idiot, you know that, don’t you? You don’t have to do this. Fans love you. You don’t have to do this.’ He doesn’t. For his age, to do those crazy things.”
We will have to see what happens with Sting’s retirement match in the future. He has a lot of possibilities until that match at Revolution, and the Young Bucks’ return could really add a lot of momentum toward that big event.
We will keep an eye on this story, and so much more, right here at Ringside News. You never know how much Tony Khan has in store to help build toward Sting’s last match, but that will certainly be a huge selling point for Revolution.
