Matt Riddle Claims Randy Orton Aimed to Get Him Fired After Initial Meeting

Matt Riddle and Randy Orton had an unbreakable bond as Team RKBro, going on to win tag team gold and becoming one of the highlights of WWE television at one point. However, it wasn’t always like that as Riddle recently claimed that Orton wanted him to get fired after their first meeting in WWE.

Prior to Randy Orton’s injury that took him out of action for a long time, he and Matt Riddle continued to dominate WWE television and have the best segments on any show. Their organic progression from a dysfunctional tag team to a well-oiled machine won over fans in a big way.

While speaking on Signed by Superstars, The Original Bro reminisced about an awkward encounter when he first met Randy Orton back in 2019. He noted that while Orton was going up to everyone to shake their hands, Riddle kept to himself and didn’t want to bother Orton.

This led to some friction between Riddle and Orton, as The Original Bro claimed that the 14-time world champion was initially intent on finding a way to get him fired before the two eventually became friends.

“I think Randy didn’t like me. First time we met, I didn’t want to bother him and he’s going up to everybody [and shaking their hands] I had my headphones on, I was chilling and I didn’t go up and say hi to him. And I remember Randy going, ‘I’m going to figure out a way to get this guy fired.’ And I was like, ‘You said that, dude?’ And he’s like, ‘Yeah, but you’re cool now.'” 

Matt Riddle also believes that a reunion with Randy Orton is guaranteed. Riddle might not be part of WWE anymore, but he will always have a ton of respect for his time with The Apex Predator and that’s what matters to him the most.
