No one could have ever imagined that Jinder Mahal would become the talk of the town in 2024 but that’s exactly what happened. Following his segments with The Rock and Seth Rollins, Mahal trended thanks to Tony Khan. Now, Bayley believes Mahal trending is a money maker.
In case you need a refresher, Tony Khan’s meltdown originated from a troll tweet by The USA Network account. In response, Khan defended his booking decisions and his company on Twitter, highlighting what he perceived as a “double standard.” He compared Jinder Mahal’s win-loss record to that of Hook, the AEW World Champion contender.
“A double standard: @730hook 28-1 career record, on winning streak calls out the Champ, a logical challenge sparks online outrage Jinder has literally lost every single match he’s in for the past year, immediately gets title shot, where is the rage #AEWDynamite TOMORROW on TBS.“
Jinder Mahal had a very appropriate response to Tony Khan and many came to defend the Modern Day Maharaja as well. Jinder Mahal even gloated about dominating Twitter after the whole ordeal ended.
While speaking to Gabby AF, Bayley addressed Jinder Mahal trending on social media. Bayley noted the passionate opinions of wrestling fans on Twitter and highlighted how their engagement adds entertainment to the industry. Bayley believes that Jinder Mahal trending on social media simply makes more money in general.
“I just think wrestling is the coolest and the funniest. The best thing about Twitter and wrestling fans, wrestling fans more so than any other sport, just love giving their opinion and think they’re always right. That’s how they feel. To me, it’s entertaining to watch. It’s also awesome to see people care this much about wrestling. It makes you want to tune in. If you’re not a WWE fan, ‘Well now I kind of want to see what they’re going to do’ or if you’re not a fan of watching Dynamite, you kind of want to tune in to see if they’re going to do something back. It just makes it fun. That’s what we’re all here to do, and it just makes more money [Laughs]. Jinder loves money.”
Jinder Mahal is set to challenge Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Chamionship on next week’s episode of Monday Night RAW. Due to so much momentum behind him right now, fans believe he might just beat Rollins for the title. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether that will happen in the end.
