Skye Blue has been making waves in AEW, especially after embracing a heel turn last year. This was a whole new ball game for her but Blue made it clear that she simply wanted to challenge herself.
In recent months, Skye Blue’s character has undergone a significant evolution, embracing a darker persona. This transformation was prominently showcased at the AEW Full Gear pay-per-view in 2023.
While speaking to Chris Jericho on Talk Is Jericho, Skye Blue talked about her unexpected transformation and partnership with Julia Hart. She expressed excitement about the opportunity to become a heel, something she hadn’t done in her indie career.
”I did not expect it at all. Me and Willow [Willow Nightingale] were talking about wanting to tag, being a tag team, and trying to make a tag division because there are not a lot of women’s tags here yet. ‘Oh, we can do that.’ They presented the idea, ‘You’re going to get misted.’ ‘Does that mean I get to be spooky?’ ‘Yeah, have you ever been a heel?’ ‘No.’ I had always wanted to be a heel on the indies.”
Skye and Willow Nightingale had discussed forming a tag team to contribute to the women’s tag division, and the idea of getting misted led to her embracing a darker persona. Skye is eager to learn and challenge herself in various aspects of wrestling, emphasizing her enthusiasm for the new direction in her career.
”When they said, ‘eventually,’ I was so excited. There would be days where you would not know, ‘maybe, maybe not.’ ‘Please, I want to challenge myself, I want to learn how to be a heel.’ I want to learn every aspect of wrestling and do as much of it as I can. I was super excited. I feel me and Julia can be a really cool tag team. The blonde brunette duo and we’re both super young.”
Blue & Hart are slated to team up with Ruby Soho & Saraya in a tag team match on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, where they will be squaring off against Anna Jay, Kris Statlander, Thunder Rosa, & Willow Nightingale. We’ll have to see who will end up winning the bout.
