Randy Orton teamed up with Matt Riddle in 2021 and the two formed an oddball pairing, akin to The Rock and Sock Connection. Despite some success, the team didn’t further progress after Orton’s injury and Riddle’s eventual WWE release. Interestingly enough, Riddle has now claimed that WWE had plans to split up the team.
The Viper and The Original Bro were initially dysfunctional but grew to be one of the most cohesive tag teams on the WWE roster. Even then, many believed the endgame for the team would be an eventual feud, with one of the members turning heel on the other.
While speaking on Signed by Superstars, The Original Bro was questioned if WWE had any plans for him or Randy Orton before Matt Riddle’s release. Preferring not to disclose details in case of a potential return to WWE, Riddle did claim that a storyline involving a heel turn was in the works.
While Matt Riddle refrained from specifying who would make the heel turn, he hinted at the inevitability of teams eventually turning on each other, which has been the case for tag teams over the years.
”Plan was — well we were hoping it… I don’t wanna really say how, because if I do return and then we do the story — yeah, I would say eventually all teams eventually turn on each other. I don’t wanna give the spoiler of who was gonna turn on who.”
Ringside News also exclusively reported WWE’s true intentions regarding a Team RKBro reunion. Matt Riddle also stated that he believes a reunion with Randy Orton is a guarantee. The Viper and Riddle will always have a lot of love and mutual respect for one another no matter what. Only time will tell if Riddle will eventually return and continue his storyline with Orton.
