The history between Matt Riddle and Brock Lesnar has been a topic of interest among wrestling fans, with a backstage confrontation during the 2020 Royal Rumble adding fuel to the fire. During that encounter, Lesnar expressed his reluctance to work with Riddle. Despite eventually working together, Riddle has recently made allegations that Lesnar sabotaged his chances of winning the Royal Rumble match.

Riddle has also stated that he believed there was a point in time when Brock Lesnar disliked him, a belief that has been the subject of fan discussions, particularly in light of their Royal Rumble incident.

Leading up to the 2022 Royal Rumble, Matt Riddle had significant momentum, and many fans believed it was his moment to ascend to the main event scene. However, that did not come to fruition, as Brock Lesnar entered the 2022 Royal Rumble match and swiftly eliminated Riddle. Lesnar went on to win the Royal Rumble match after losing the WWE Title earlier in the same night.

In an interview on “Signed by Superstars,” Riddle alleged that he was initially told he would win the 2022 Royal Rumble but claimed that Brock Lesnar refused to cooperate and insisted on winning the match himself.

“I believe — you know, it’s sports-entertainment — that I was told at one point, yeah, I was gonna win the (Royal) Rumble and everything else, and then what was it? Bobby Lashley beat Brock Lesnar because somebody came in and hit him with the belt or what have you. Then Brock came in, didn’t wanna do business with everybody, said he was winning, and then he won, and then none of the producers… nobody stood up to him, and they let him do it. I didn’t either, I didn’t either. I’m like, f*ck man, I’m just here.”

Reports from that time suggested that Riddle was indeed supposed to win the Royal Rumble. However, Matt Riddle never received another opportunity to win the Royal Rumble, and he was released from WWE in September of the same year. Currently, Riddle appears to be content with his life outside of WWE.

Whether Brock Lesnar truly acted in his own interests during the 2022 Royal Rumble remains a matter of speculation and debate among wrestling fans. The incident continues to be a topic of discussion within the wrestling community, and opinions on the matter may vary.
