WWE RAW Results (1/8/2024):

The opening package for the show airs.

Cody Rhodes is walking backstage. Drew McIntyre is in the ring and he says needed to win the title but he doesn’t have it. He says he for so close to winning the title after the Claymore but he cost himself the match. He says maybe he has been holding himself back. Drew says he needs to get his priorities right and step away from WWE for a while.

Drew says this has been a lifelong dream. He says he didn’t lose straight up because Damian Priest cashed in and caused him the match. He asks why didn’t Damian wait until the match was over to cash in. He says between everything that is been going on maybe he should leave for nine years and maybe then he will get a hero’s welcome.

CM Punk’s music plays and he comes out to the ring. Punk praises Roddy Piper. He says he is known for talking but asks if Drew is known for talking. He says all he has done since his return his talk. He says Drew can say anything he wants to his face while he stands in the corner.

Drew says Punk has been in the company for over a month. He says Punk is costing people a lot of money the longer he’s been around. He says he doesn’t care what Punk said outside the company. He says he cares what Punk does to him personally. He says he travelled the world with for years.

Drew says when Punk was champion, he would walk around the locker room like a leader. He says he needed a leader back then. He says he had personal issues going on and he could’ve used a real leader but Punk saw him as a threat. He says Randy couldn’t have helped because he had his own issues. He says Punk could’ve helped him. He says he figured it all out on his own.

CM Punk says he never called himself a leader because he led by example. He says Drew can join the Straight Edge Society. He says Drew returned to the company bigger, faster, and stronger. He says now he’s following Drew’s lead. He says he is Satan himself when pushed. Punk says he is a nice guy until it’s time now to be. He says he is here to win the Royal Rumble and main event WrestleMania.

Drew says they have a little problem. He says his title wins were for the company. He says he will eliminate Punk from the Royal Rumble and win the title at WrestleMania. He says this time he will do it for himself. Punk says he is going to walk away before he knocks his teeth down his throat. He says he, Seth, or Cody can’t stop him from winning the Royal Rumble. He says he will throw Drew out last in the Royal Rumble.

Finn Balor vs. Tommaso Ciampa

Judgment Day’s music plays and Finn Balor comes out with Damian Priest.

*Commercial break*

Tommaso Ciampa says if he wants something he fights for it and he wants the tag titles and he says DIY is going to win the tag titles.

Tommaso Ciampa’s theme song plays and he comes to the ring.

The match starts and Balor attacks Ciampa in the corner. Ciampa comes back and knocks down Balor who rolls out of the ring. Priest gets in the way of Ciampa. This allows Balor to knock Ciampa off the apron.

*Commercial break*

Ciampa with a reverse DDT. Balor takes down Ciampa and hits the double stomp. Ciampa fights back with a jumping knee and he follows it with a backbreaker. Cover! 1….2…..kick out.

Balore hits Ciampa with a slingblade. He then hits a shotgun dropkick. He goes for the coup de grace and misses. Ciampa with a right punch. Priest gets on the apron but Gargano gets involved and DIY take him out. Balor goes for the suplex but Ciampa reverses and pins him with Gargano’s help.

Winner: Tommaso Ciampa

Jackie interviews Becky Lynch who says she imagined Nia would break her nose with a right punch. She says Nia put her full weight behind her punch but she got back up and declared herself for the Royal Rumble. She says either Nia is getting weaker or she is getting stronger. She says this is just the beginning.

Kofi Kingston vs. Ludwig Kaiser

Kofi Kingston’s music plays and he comes down to the ring.

*Commercial break*

Ludwig Kaiser’s music plays and he comes out to the ring.

The match begins and Kaiser knocks down Kofi. He attacks him viciously. Kofi fights back and attacks Kaiser in the corner. Kaiser plants him on the top turnbuckle. He sends Kofi into the post. Kaiser with a running dropkick. Kofi comes back with a crossbody. He sends Kaiser to the outside. Kofi goes for a suicide dive but Kaiser catches him with a right hand. Kaiser sends Kofi into the barricade.

*Commercial break*

Kaiser stomps Kofi. He then jumps off the second rope but Kofi gets his feet up. Kofi with the trust fall on Kaiser. Kaiser sends him into the ring post. Kaiser goes for the running uppercut but crashes into the barricade. The referee counts them both out. Kofi superkicks Kaiser.

Winner: Double Count Out

Kofi dives onto Kaiser and he attacks him. Kaiser pokes Kofi. Kofi sends Kaiser over the announcer’s table. Kaiser throws a chair at Kofi knocking him out. Kaiser continues to attack Kofi. He places Kofi on the steel steps and hits a running dropkick.

Jackie is backstage and she interviews Ludwig Kaiser. Kaiser says it was Kofi’s fault. He says because of Kofi, he is the only one here. He says he is carrying the whole weight of Imperium. He says tonight, he took Kofi’s head.

Michael Cole is in the ring and he introduces Nia Jax. Nia Jax’s music hits and she walks out to the ring. Cole says Nia shocked the world by defeating Becky Lynch. Nia asks why was it so shocking. She says he is more focused. Nia says it would be more shocking if she broke Cole’s face. Nia says she is going to win the Royal Rumble.

Rhea Ripley’s music plays and she comes out. Rhea says the fans know that Nia likes to talk a big game. She says Nia is walking around acting like she won the Royal Rumble. She reminds her that she eliminated Nia last year. Rhea says Becky isn’t like her. She tells her she doesn’t own the division. She warns her to keep her name out of her mouth.

Nia says Rhea may be the most dominant champion in the company. She says Rhea is too scared to face her in a singles match. She says she is going to choose Rhea when she wins the Royal Rumble. Nia then walks away.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: Kayden Carter & Katana Chance (c) vs. Chelsea Green & Piper Niven

Chelsea Green’s music hits and she walks out with Piper Niven.

Jackie interviews Cody Rhodes who says this should be over. Shinsuke Nakamura attacks Cody from behind. WWE officials separate Nakamura.

Kayden Carter and Katana Chance’s music plays and they come down to the ring.

The match begins with Kayden Carter and Chelsea Green. Green dropkicks Kayden sending her out of the ring. Carter comes back with a dropkick. She attacks her in the corner and tags out. Chance attacks Green. Carter tags in and superkicks Green. Piper Niven comes in and gets sent outside the ring. Chance tags in and climbs the rope. Niven pulls Carter out of the ring. Green sends Chance into the turnbuckle. Niven with a cannonball. Cover! 1….2….kick out.

*Commercial break*

Carter knocks down Green and knocks Niven off the apron. She superkicks Green. Cover! 1….2…..kick out. Carter with a springboard leg drop. Cover! 1…..2….kick out. Carter sets up Green on the top rope. Chance tags in and hits a hurricanrana off the top rope. Cover! 1….2…..kick out.

Chance tags out and goes for a moonsault but Green gets her knees up. Green with the Ruff Raider. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Niven tags in and hits a senton on Carter. Cover! 1….2….Chance makes the save. Green takes out Chance and Carter kicks Green out of the ring. Carter superkicks Niven. Niven with a urinagi to Carter. Green tags in. Niven climbs the top rope and Chance pulls Carter out of the ring. Niven hits the splash on Green. Chance knocks Niven out of the ring. Chance tags in and hits the keg stand for the win.

Winner: Kayden Carter & Katana Chance (c)

A video of R-Truth plays where he recalls his birth and he says he told the doctors he would be in Judgment Day. He says they have an unbreakable bond. He says now that JD McDonagh is gone, they are now a close family. He says he wants to send a message to every Superstar and says if they need a shoulder to cry, Judgment Day is here.

Judgment Day is backstage and JD is upset. Damian says R-Truth was funny. He says he will handle Truth when the time comes. Rhea informs them that DIY is coming after the titles. Balor is upset about DIY but Damian calms him down. Priest calls Drew a joke and asks if it was smart of Rhea to make an enemy of Nia. Rhea says she needs JD to handle Miz.

The Miz vs. JD McDonagh

The Miz’s music plays and he walks to the ring.

Judgment Day’s music plays and JD McDonagh comes out with Dominik Mysterio. R-Truth is at ringside.

The match begins and Miz knocks down JD McDonagh. JD rolls out of the ring. JD gets back in the ring and Miz attacks him. He attacks him in the corner and misses. JD with a couple of kicks to the chest. Miz returns with a neckbreaker. Miz hits a back body drop. Dominik attacks Miz from behind and JD hits a jawbreaker.

*Commercial break*

JD trips Miz and dives onto him. Cover! 1…..2…..kick out. JD hits a suplex on him. Cover! 1….2…kick out. Miz fights back against JD and attacks him in the corner. Miz with a running clothesline in the corner. Miz kicks JD in the chest. Miz kicks JD in the knee. He locks in the figure four leg lock and JD gets to the rope.

Miz dropkicks JD McDonagh and sends him into the ring. He hits the skullcrushing finale for the win.

Judgment Day is backstage and upset about the loss. Rhea says she is going to go talk to Adam Pearce.

Seth Rollins is walking backstage.

*Commercial break*

Seth Rollins’ music plays and he walks to the ring. Rollins gets on the mic and says they are just a few weeks away from the Royal Rumble. He says his WrestleMania track record is pretty good. He says he has never walked into WrestleMania as a World Champion. He says he has never been the headline but that changes this year as it is his year. Rollins says he took a title and turned it into the most important prize in the industry.

Rollins says his work is not done. He asks who is he going to beat at WrestleMania. Jinder Mahal’s music plays and he comes out. Jinder gets on the mic and says he was more a revolutionary than Rollins within five minutes last week. Jinder insults the fans. He says the World Heavyweight Champion speaks no truth. Jinder says Seth prides himself as a workhorse who provides opportunities except to him.

Jinder says he beat Randy Orton with ease and yet Seth disrespects him. He says he won’t tolerate it. He says he sees through Seth’s facade. Jinder says he has Seth’s attention for the first time in a long time.

Seth says Jinder is right. He says he has been overlooking him and he has been doing it on purpose. Seth mocks him for getting beaten up last week. Seth says Jinder got his attention now and he asks him to take a swing. Jinder doesn’t do anything and Rollins turns around. Jinder attacks him from behind. He knocks Rollins down with a clothesline. Rollins superkicks him and goes for the stomp but Jinder rolls out of the ring.

Otis vs. Ivar

Alpha Academy’s music plays and Otis comes out to the ring with Maxxine Dupri and Akira Tozawa.

*Commercial break*

Ivar’s theme song plays and he walks to the ring with Valhalla.

The match begins and Otis knocks down Ivar. He goes to attack him in the corner but Ivar knocks him down. Ivar attacks him in the corner. Ivar goes for a crossbody but Otis catches him and slams him. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Otis climbs the top rope but is stopped. Ivar hits a powerbomb on Otis. Cover! 1…2….kick out. Otis comes back with a clothesline.

Otis hits the caterpillar on Ivar. Cover! 1…..2…..kick out. Ivar comes back with a spinning heel kick. Ivar hits the doomsault for the win.

Winner: Ivar

Akira Tozawa gets in Ivar’s face but he shoves him out of the ring.

Jackie interviews Jey Uso who says he is about to get his first ever singles championship this year. Bronson Reed interrupts him and says he also has plans to become champion and advises him to stay out of his way.

Street Fight: Cody Rhodes vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

Shinsuke Nakamura’s music hits and he comes out to the ring.

Cody Rhodes’ music plays and he walks to the ring.

The match starts and Cody hits Nakamura with an uppercut. Nakamura rolls out of the ring and Cody hits him with a dropkick. Cody and Nakamura brawl up the ramp. They brawl back to the ringside area. Cody chops Nakamura. He slams Nakamura on the table. Cody sends him into the ring and climbs the top rope but Nakamura rolls out of the ring. Nakamura hits Cody with a broom. He takes a kendo stick and hits Cody. Nakamura hits Codu multiple times.

*Commercial break*

Nakamura goes for a knee drop and misses. Cody hits Nakamura with a kendo stick many times. Nakamura sets Cody on the turnbuckle and hits him with a running knee. Cover! 1……2…..kick out. Rollins kicks Cody in the face. Nakamura kicks Cody in the face. Cody knocks down Nakamura and hits a powerslam. Cody hits the disaster kick. Cover! 1…..2….kick out.

Cody grabs a table from under the ring and places it in the ring. Nakamura hits Cody with the nunchucks. Cody fights back with the right hand. Nakamura sprays the red mist but Cody ducks and sends him into the ringside area. Cody checks on the timekeeper and Nakamura hits him with a steel chair from behind.

Cody sends Nakamura into the steel steps. Both men exchange strikes. Cody hits Nakamura with the bionic elbow. Nakamura sets Cody on the table and hits the double knees. Cover! 1….2….kick out.

Nakamura sets up a table in the corner. Nakamura hits a sliding German suplex on Cody. Nakamura with a flying knee off the second rope. Nakamura goes for Kinshasa but Cody superkicks him and hits a pedigree. Cover! 1…..2….kick out. Cody hits the Cody cutter. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Cody sends Nakamura into the table. He then hits the Cross Rhodes for the win.

Winner: Cody Rhodes
