Former WWE personality Matt Striker is still in the pro wrestling business. He has a gig with MLW, but a recent storm of controversy hit him in a big way.

During the MLW Kings Of Colosseum, Matt Riddle faced off against Jacob Fatu in a match marking their first-ever encounter. This was quite a return to MLW for Riddle as well, but the commentary really stole the show for many fans.

The commentary for this matchup was provided by play-by-play broadcaster Joe Dombrowski and former WWE star Matt Striker. Despite Riddle securing the victory over the Samoan Werewolf, it was a controversial comment by Striker during the bout that garnered attention.

“Let’s talk about the elephant in the room. The court of public opinion would like to see Jacob Fatu slap the taste out of Matt Riddle’s mouth. But the court of public opinion does not convict. I’m sorry; I know it’s the world in which we live, but it’s not the case.”

Matt Striker was making reference to Matt Riddle’s past allegations of sexual assault made by independent pro wrestler Candy Cartwright from the summer of 2020. Cartwright claimed the incident occurred in May 2018 when she refused to engage in sexual activity with Riddle.

The moment Matt Striker made that comment on commentary, fans responded in a big way. They lashed out at Striker, and allegations started to surface.

Matt Striker then provided a response on social media to address this new issue about his commentary. That brought a ton of backlash he was not expecting at all, and an allegation even came up about AEW star Willow Nightingale.

Matt Striker then penned an apology letter on social media. This seemed heartfelt, as he said he couldn’t sleep because of this incident.

“I’ve given this a lot of thought,” he said. “Could not sleep. My critics are right. I was wrong. Tone-deaf. Trying to use the guise of art or character portrayal is self-preservation. Thank you to those that shone light on this. It is now on me to stand in that light. I will be better.”

Matt Striker then elected to delete that apology. As of this writing, we do not know why he did that. It is unfair to say whether he was advised that such a post may be an admission of guilt in some way. At this time, Matt Striker is not saying much on the subject.

We will keep our eye on Matt Striker, and everyone else in the pro wrestling world, for any news. You never know what will break next, but we will be here with the headlines you need.
