Butch was left without a tag team partner after Ridge Holland walked out on him during the November 24th episode of Friday Night SmackDown. He needed a partner for SmackDown this week and got it in the form of a debuting Tyler Bate. They would win the match and thus, Butch finally ended an unfortunate 7-month streak.
During the January 5th episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Butch found himself in need of a partner against Pretty Deadly and enlisted the help of his long-time friend Tyler Bate. The duo shares a history dating back to their time together in the United Kingdom and both hold the distinction of being former NXT WWE United Kingdom Champions.
Tyler Bate played a crucial role in securing a victory for his friend by delivering a double Tyler Driver. This marked Butch’s first win on WWE SmackDown since the June 30th 2023 edition of SmackDown, thus bringing an end to Butch’s 7-month losing streak.
In recent months, Butch has faced his own challenges, being sidelined due to Sheamus’ injury and subsequently experiencing a fallout with Ridge Holland. All of this has resulted in a series of losses to tag teams in the latter half of 2023.
Engaging in a feud with Pretty Deadly, Butch sought assistance and found support in Tyler Bate. Their recent significant victory on SmackDown suggests the potential for a continued partnership between the two in the future. We’ll have to see how WWE will book them in the coming weeks.
