Tony Khan May Use Mercedes Mone As ‘Counterpunch’ After Losing Andrade

Mercedes Mone could shake up any roster she lands on at this point, and it appears that she isn’t making a WWE return at this point. Now, it could be Tony Khan’s chance to book the former Sasha Banks.

There is a possibility that Mercedes Mone may join WWE despite ongoing interest from AEW. Recent reports indicated that negotiations between Mone and WWE have ceased, and both parties are not actively engaged in discussions. More recent reports suggest that insiders at AEW anticipate Mone signing with their company.

Dave Meltzer shared an update in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter about Mercedes Mone. She is expected to arrive in AEW soon enough as a new weapon for Tony Khan’s arsenal on his roster.

“The other rumor was that Mercedes Mone would be starting with AEW shortly. The only thing we heard is that she was in talks with WWE, and they were far apart on money.”

“Some in WWE speculated that this could be a Punk situation where everyone denies it to lead to a Rumble surprise.”

“Mone was talked about by others in WWE as Khan’s counterpunch for losing Andrade. Khan did say he would be very active in the free agent market in 2024.”

Mercedes Mone could mix it up with some very talented females in AEW. Britt Baker hasn’t been around, but a match between the two is guaranteed money. Deonna Purrazzo’s recent entry into the Land of All Elite is also very attractive for some fans as they book dream matches.

We will have to see what Mercedes Mone does next. She wants to get paid, and Tony Khan may be in a position where he will pay her exactly what she wants to come in for some wrestling matches.
