Matt Riddle’s controversial off-ring behavior led to his unexpected departure from WWE last year. After waiting a few months, Riddle is now more than ready to take over the pro wrestling world as he has now issued a challenge to Hiroshi Tanahashi.

Matt Riddle confirmed his WWE release back in September, attracting interest from other wrestling promotions. Following his release, he acquired a new car and ventured into entrepreneurship.

In case you forgot, Hiroshi Tanahashi defeated Zack Sabre Jr. for the NJPW World TV Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 18 yesterday. This was a big deal considering he is already the President of NJPW as well.

During NJPW’s New Year’s Dash event, Matt Riddle made his shocking appearance in a short promo while rocking shorter hair. Fully decked out in a shirt, Riddle issued a challenge to Hiroshi Tanahashi for a future match for his title.

”Konnichiwa New Japan, my name is Matt Riddle, the King of Bros. I got my sights set on Tanahashi-san, the Ace of Japan. I’ll see you soon.”

Matt Riddle also made it clear he will be ditching his goofy WWE character now that he will be competing all over the world. We will have to wait and see when Riddle will square off against Hiroshi Tanahashi, as that will certainly be a match worth watching for many fans.
