The Judgment Day is comprised of Finn Balor, Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh. Together, they have been wreaking havoc in WWE. Initially, Adam Copeland was the leader of the group before being ousted. Now, Copeland has revealed the original plans for The Judgment Day.
Back in June last year, Finn Balor joined Judgement Day and ended up taking over the faction. They all kicked out Adam Copeland and shocked fans. It marked the first time Balor was a heel in pro wrestling in many years.
Following Copeland’s exit, the group eventually morphed into a thing of its own and the success speaks for itself, as the faction is constantly featured on all major WWE shows and Premium Live Events.
While speaking on the Not Sam Wrestling podcast, the Rated R Superstar talked about the original concept for the group. Adam Copeland noted that The Judgment Day was initially conceived to be a new version of The Brood.
“Well, you know, with the initial inception of the Judgement Day, I really I wanted it to be these underutilized talents that I thought could be far more than what they were being utilized for. Rhea Ripley is a star and Damian Priest is a star and Finn Balor’s a star.
So initially, it was brought to me like, ‘Hey, we want to kind of start a New Brood,’ or something that feels somewhat like that. I’m like, ‘Who would it be?’ I was like, ‘Ripley and Priest.’ ‘Well, we want it go be four.’ So, it’s like.. Balor! Okay, well, then it was like, ‘We want somebody really huge.’ I was like, okay.. all right.. and then I got a text two weeks later. ‘How about Balor?’ I’m like, ‘Yep! amazing idea.’ [Laughing].
Rhea Ripley also admitted it was hard to re-establish The Judgment Day after kicking out Adam Copeland. Regardless, The Judgment Day is now one of WWE’s hottest acts and Adam Copeland couldn’t be happier.
