The WWE’s Viking Raiders have been conspicuously absent from WWE television as a pair for quite some time. This shift in their status is attributed to a specific reason: Erik, one half of the Viking Raiders, is currently dealing with health issues, while the company has been focusing on pushing Ivar as a singles competitor.
Erik recently underwent C6/C7 neck fusion surgery and has been in the process of recovery ever since. In a recent update, it was revealed that Erik, along with his partner Valhalla, sought stem cell therapy at the Ways2Well preventative wellness clinic in Austin, Texas.
Erik, who is presently on WWE’s injured list, spoke about to Way2Well about the toll that over 20 years in professional wrestling has taken on his body. The 39-year-old emphasized the importance of the source of stem cells used in their therapy, explaining that he was relieved to discover that they were sourced from amniotic donor stem cells, harvested from scheduled C-section procedures without causing harm, which was a critical consideration for him and his 30-year-old wife.
“It was actually the first question I asked – what was the source of the stem cells that are used in treatments in Ways2Well? And I was very relieved to learn it was all amniotic donor stem cells. So, it’s all from a scheduled C-section from a mother’s tissue. It’s amniotic, there’s no harm done in the harvesting, which was super important to us.”
Together with Ivar, Erik and Valhalla make up WWE’s Viking Raiders faction. The couple, who got married in December 2018 after dating for a while, have a strong and enduring relationship. Their family grew with the birth of their son, Raymond Cash Rowe, in February 2021.
Erik’s last wrestling match was on the September 14th episode of WWE Main Event, which was recorded on September 11th. Although he was initially scheduled to compete on the September 18th episode of WWE RAW, he was ultimately unable to do so. The timeline for Erik’s return to the wrestling ring remains uncertain as he continues his recovery journey.
