Adam Copeland, the wrestling legend who made his smashing debut at AEW WrestleDream, has become an instant sensation in the company. He instantly feuded with friend-turned-foe Christian Cage, which culminated in a No DQ match at AEW Worlds End. Copeland won the title but lost it again after a lot of shenanigans and now he broke his silence on the matter.
Cage and Copeland’s bitter rivalry went to a whole different level after their TNT Title match earlier this month, which saw Nick Wayne’s mother cost Adam Copeland the match.
This culminated in a No DQ match at AEW Worlds End on December 30th. The match featured a barrage of brutal elements such as tables, ladders, and chairs. The bout reached a climax when a flaming table became a focal point, leading to Nick Wayne enduring a powerbomb onto the fiery surface.
In a surprising turn of events, Adam Copeland executed his own finisher, the Killswitch, on Christian Cage, picked up and claimed the TNT Championship. However, the drama continued as Killswitch, armed with his guaranteed TNT Championship match contract, made his way to the ring. In an unexpected twist, he handed over the contract to Christian Cage, prompting a restart of the match.
Seizing the opportunity, Christian Cage delivered a devastating spear to Adam Copeland, reclaiming the TNT Championship and leaving the audience simply shocked at what they had to witness.
The Rated R Superstar took to his Instagram and uploaded a photo of himself holding the TNT Championship mere moments before disaster struck. Copeland embraced humility in defeat, which was evident from his post.
”And Newwww…until I wasn’t. Contrary to this photo last night did not go as planned.”
We will have to wait and see whether AEW will end up continuing Christian Cage and Adam Copeland’s feud following Worlds End. After all, they put on a banger and fans want Copeland to have a proper reign as a champion.
