Andrade El Idolo’s AEW contract is set to expire in 2024, leading to speculation that he might be preparing for a return to WWE. Interestingly enough, even WWE feels Idolo will return to the company in the future.
El Idolo made a significant appearance in a vignette during CMLL’s Arena Mexico show on Friday, December 8, 2023. It was then confirmed that he would be making his return to the promotion on December 15. Furthermore, it was disclosed that he has been in discussions with both CMLL and AAA.
Andrade El Idolo’s return to CMLL also ended up sparking a lot of speculation when it came to his pro wrestling future. Naturally, many are also under the belief Andrade would go to WWE next year.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, many in WWE expect Andrade El Idolo to return to the company once his contract expires. However, he is open to staying in AEW should Tony Khan make a better offer than WWE.
”Andrade talked to the press after the match and said he’s got a lot of open doors in 2024 and he’s not sure which one he’ll choose.
“I do know that those in WWE expect him to return. I also know those close to him who say that he may very well go back but is also open to stay if Tony Khan makes a better offer than WWE.
“He would also like to work New Japan and would have wanted to do FantasticaMania in February but it conflicts with his schedule.”
Charlotte Flair was also present during a recent CMLL event to support Andrade El Idolo. We will have to wait and see whether he will end up remaining with Tony Khan’s company or if he will return to WWE next year.
