Shawn Spears was known as Tye Dillinger in WWE and for the most part, fans viewed him as a severely underrated WWE Superstar. Dillinger had a lot of talent but the company simply didn’t know how to use him. In the end, he was released and made his way to AEW over three years ago. He has also departed AEW just today and now he has commented on his exit.

Shawn Spears was absent for a long time AEW television since the October 13th, 2022 episode of Rampage, where he and FTR beat The Embassy. This is because he and his wife Cassie Lee welcomed their first child.

He would then return to AEW television earlier this year but ultimately, he never got to do much even after coming back. It was previously reported that Shawn Spears had departed from AEW.

The Chairman took to Twitter and confirmed that he had parted ways with Tony Khan’s company. He would thank AEW for all the memories and opportunities given to him in the emotional post.

What a wonderful time it has been.

Thank you @AEW for allowing me to be there from the ground level. It’s been a fantastic 5 years of growth and personal development.

This is a personal choice and one that is best for me and my family at this time.

Thank you to all, staff and talent alike for the memories ❤️

Most importantly, to the incredible fans of ALL professional wrestling:

I love you guys.

I really do.

Shawn Spears played a notable role in AEW’s early stages, notably feuding with Cody Rhodes over being called “a good hand,” which he took as an insult given his Perfect 10 persona. After The Pinnacle’s decline, Spears lacked a clear direction and had limited appearances on AEW television. His last wrestling match was at AEW All Out Zero Hour, and he hadn’t been featured on an episode of Dynamite since May 2022. Only time will tell what the future holds for the now-former AEW star.
