Injuries are a common thing in WWE and the world of professional wrestling, often leading to premature retirements. One individual who has been absent from competition for an extended period due to injury is Corey Graves. Interestingly enough, Graves is open to a one-off match, as he already got medical clearance for an in-ring return.
Corey Graves was an active in-ring star in NXT, where he took part in matches every week. However, he had to retire due to concussions back in 2014. Afterwards, there have been many instances where fans wondered if Graves would ever make his in-ring return again.
Corey Graves, who has been a wrestler since 2000, showcased his skills in NXT and even bagged the NXT tag team titles alongside Adrian Neville (PAC). His final match took place nine years ago at WrestleMania Axxess against Troy McClain. Since then, Graves has successfully transitioned to a notable career outside the wrestling ring.
While speaking with Steelers Takeaways, Corey Graves made it clear that he has been cleared for an in-ring return for quite a while now. Graves noted that he is willing to return for a one-off match, similar to what Pat McAfee has done in the past.
“I have a clean bill of health now, thanks. I actually got medically cleared a couple of years ago to perform in the ring again. I flirted with the idea and am waiting for a potential opportunity if it presents itself. More of a one-time thing like [Pat] McAfee has done – not as a full-time in-ring performer.”
It is to be noted that Corey Graves previously said that he has no desire to make an in-ring return. We’ll have to see if the Savior of Misbehavior ever wrestles again. If anything, it is nice to know he has that option now.
