Bryan Danielson stands as one of the most established names in the world of professional wrestling. He is set to compete at Wrestle Kingdom 18 on January 4th, 2024. Ahead of the highly anticipated bout, Danielson made a promise to himself and his fans, that he will break Kazuchika Okada’s arm as revenge for what happened at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door this year.
Last year, Kazuchika Okada was featured in the main event of the Forbidden Door pay-per-view, challenging Jay White for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship in a four-way match with Adam Cole and Hangman Page. Unfortunately, Bryan Danielson couldn’t be part of the match due to injury.
To make up for it, AEW and NJPW decided to book Okada vs. Danielson for this year’s Forbidden Door event. The match lived up to expectations, closing out the event with a spectacular performance. In a surprising turn, Okada tapped out to Danielson, marking the first time in eight years that Okada had submitted.
However, Bryan Danielson broke his arm and his injury was worse than initially thought. While speaking in a special interview with NJPW ahead of his clash with Okada, Danielson made it clear that he plans on breaking Okada’s arm as revenge for what happened to him at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.
“My goal is legitimately to break Okada’s right arm. Then we’re going to see how good he is because the true test of how good somebody is, when you take away their best weapon.
You can take away my arm, my eye and I’m still better than 99.9% of the wrestlers on planet Earth.
Okada, I’m going to break your arm and take away your best weapon and let’s see if you’re even in the top 50%.
Okada.. at Wrestle Kingdom, it’s going to be an Eye for an Eye and an Arm for an Arm. I’m breaking your right arm. I’m going to stop you from using the Rainmaker. We’re going to see if you’re the next Antonio Inoki or if you’re just another wannabe.”
NJPW even launched Bryan Danielson’s first-ever merchandise ahead of his Wrestle Kingdom 18 encounter with Kazuchika Okada. It remains to be seen whether Bryan Danielson will be able to defeat The Rainmaker for the second time in a row.
