Top Dolla quickly grasped the dynamics within WWE, but despite the company’s expectations, he struggled to gain significant popularity. WWE ultimately released him in September. Dolla has now disclosed that he was diagnosed with diabetic neuropathy, a condition that impacted his in-ring performance.
On the December 16, 2022 episode of WWE SmackDown, Hit Row faced Legado Del Fantasma and the Viking Raiders in a triple threat match. During the bout, Top Dolla attempted a leaping plancha but unfortunately botched the move, resulting in a fall to the outside.
This made Top Dolla the subject of ridicule not only among fans but WWE as well. This is even though Top Dolla proved he could perform that move properly. The dive ended up being the best thing that could have happened to him.
While speaking on Muscle Man Malcolm, Top Dolla talked about the botch and it helped him discover he had ridiculously high sugar, which made him lose feeling in his feet. He was officially diagnosed with diabetic neuropathy and could have had a diabetic coma at any time.
“So I started losing feeling in my toes and I was like ‘Man, you know, Doc, is it something out of alignment? He was like, ‘What you’re describing kinda sounds like Diabetic Neuropathy’ and he was like ‘Have you had your blood sugar checked?’ I was like nah. He was like ‘You should probably go and get your blood sugar checked.
But me being a big dumb idiot, I still waited a couple of weeks before I went to the doctor and got my blood sugar checked. When I got my blood sugar checked, it was 626… But I’m like at the point where I could pass out into a diabetic coma. at any time like I’m losing full sensation of my feet.”
Top Dolla already made his first post-WWE appearance recently. Now known as AJ Francis, he is set to square off against Joey Janela at GCW Look at Me on January 26th, in Tampa, Florida. It remains to be seen how Francis will fare in the coming months.
