AEW fans were a big surprised by the influx of internal departures toward the end of 2023. Dana Massie, Matt Jackson’s wife, left the company, and she was making a lot in the process.

Matt Jackson spoke out about his wife’s AEW exit, where he said that she left on her own terms. He also called her position a sometimes “thankless job.”

During his Rumor and Innuendo podcast, Nick Hausman spoke about Dana Massie’s exit from AEW. Although she may be technically leaving on her own terms, there were some serious complaints about AEW’s recent merchandise.

“I also know that there were a lot of talent upset for a long time about the merchandising. There were a lack of shirts for some people, a lack of quality that were getting put out, they were really not happy with it. There was a Sting snow globe that went out, I think they had to cancel it from their orders that they didn’t even want anyone to have it on their mantel.”

“It was not a situation where a lot of people thrilled about the merchandising. As Dave Meltzer stated, she didn’t have any experience as an executive in a pro wrestling company running a merchandising department. As much as everyone wants to project this aura that everything was fine, and she left on her own terms, again, maybe it was her call to go that way. Maybe they offered her a contract that was less than what she was getting, I don’t know.

There were many reasons for Dana Massie’s AEW exit, which we have covered in the past. Needless to say, her exit is a bit of a surprise, but it has also been the latest in a trend in the land of All Elite.

AEW has seen some notable exits as they approach the end of 2023. QT Marshall is gone, and so is Rafael Morffi. Dana Massie’s departure was a very big surprise for a lot of people, as Matt Jackson revealed in his post about his wife’s exit that she was in on the conversations that birthed AEW.
