Adam Copeland arrived in AEW, much to the surprise of many fans. He allowed his WWE deal to expire, and now he’s with Tony Khan’s company, and able to work with a brand-new crop of talent.
Adam Copeland recently spoke to TSN, where he opened up about young talent in AEW. Tony Khan’s company has gained a reputation of having younger talent who don’t pay attention to veteran advice, but that may not be the case for the former Edge.
Adam Copeland has engaged in feuds with Christian Cage, Nick Wayne, and Killswitch since joining AEW. However, the former WWE star is eager to collaborate with the younger AEW talents moving forward.
“Maybe somebody’s on a bit of a roll on TV, and then they’re off [all of a sudden] As a young performer, you go, ‘What did I do [wrong]?’ I wanna be there for guys like that or women like that because I’ve been through it, and I understand that there’s peaks and valleys.”
Adam Copeland also noted that he is always willing to give advice to AEW talent. He is backstage, and ready for talent to ask him questions. He also realizes how confusing the pro wrestling business can be at times.
“I truly think backstage and [I can] help young talent navigate through what might kinda feel like stormy waters, or confusing waters and in crafting stories, crafting characters, helping create a character that has layers instead of thinking just, ‘Okay, this is my idea: I want to create a group.’ Okay, and? There’s gotta be more than that,” he said. “What else? What’s the reason? What other characters, and what’s their reasoning? There has to be reason. It’s like any television show in that regard, right?”
We will have to see what is next for Adam Copeland in AEW. This run with Tony Khan’s company is one that fans never thought would happen. Now, it appears that he is with them for a long haul, and making himself available as well.
Adam Copeland may be down to work with younger talent, but he’s not finished with Christian Cage yet. The two are expected to throw down at AEW Worlds End on December 30th.
