Chris Jericho has been part of the professional wrestling world for well over three decades now. He has already seen a ton of success in AEW, being an AEW World Champion as well as an ROH World Champion. That said, Jericho has now taken credit for elevating ROH as the World Champion.
Chris Jericho eventually became the ROH World Champion when he beat Claudio Castagnoli last year. Jericho then proceeded to become a fighting champion, defending it regularly on AEW television and events.
While speaking on The Dallas Morning News, The Ocho talked about his time as the ROH World Champion, where he took credit for elevating ROH during his time as the champion.
”I think it was pretty cool time for Ring of Honor. It was a good idea for Tony to have me as the champion because I think he put a lot of eyeballs on the company, and kind of really put that title under the spotlight with defending it as much as I did.”
Chris Jericho would end up losing the title to Claudi Castagnoli at ROH Final Battle last year where he tapped out to the giant swing. Jericho noted that this was a very good move for many.
”That’s when we did the finish where I tapped out to the giant swing, which I thought was so creative. I don’t know if anyone has done it since, but I just thought it was the best way to lose the title. I think the whole Chris Jericho as Ring of Honor champion experiment was a huge success culminating in this great match at Final Battle.”
Scrapped plans for Chris Jericho’s ROH World Title run were also revealed recently. Regardless, Jericho’s run as the ROH World Champion is looked at as a good investment for fans and that’s all that matters.
