AEW has a lot of veterans who have helped the company in a backstage capacity. That being said, an AEW veteran who has been in the business for a long time recently underwent brain surgery.

Dean Malenko has been part of the AEW family for the past few years now, where he has been working as a coach. The Man of 1,000 Holds is considered one of the most talented in-ring competitors of all time for good reason.

While speaking on the latest episode of his Grilling JR podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross stated that he ran into the former WCW Cruiserweight Champion Dean Malenko.

Jim Ross Ross revealed Dean Malenko had successful surgery for symptoms arising from his Parkinson’s disease. He also gave props to Malenko for being an unsung hero in AEW.

I saw Dean Malenko. Malenko’s had some health issues. I saw him there and he’s had brain surgery. It stops the shakes from Parkinson’s and he’s had the surgery. He’s such a sweetheart of a guy.

He’s one of those unsung guys and he’s such an MVP at AEW because of his guidance and his coaching. He encourages the talents to bring to him what they want to do or what they’ve been loosely structured to do, and then he helps them. He contributes and he’s teaching. All that is is coaching and he’s really good at it.”

Dean Malenko had revealed he was suffering from Parkinson’s disease a few years ago as well. Regardless, we are glad to know Dean Malenko did what was needed to help himself and that’s what matters to him.
