WWE released a lot of Superstars in September, but now those names are set to explode the free agency market. Shelton Benjamin is one of those names, but it seems he has been enjoying a bit of a vacation since then.
Shelton Benjamin marked the conclusion of his 90-day non-compete clause and the official start of his free agency on the recent free agent day. Having been released along with other WWE talents on September 21, Benjamin expressed surprise that three months had passed since his departure.
To capture the moment, Benjamin added a touch of humor by creating a voiceover clip using scenes from Godzilla. The clip humorously portrays him waking up from his vacation, realizing the need to start earning money in his new phase of professional freedom.
It’s been fun actually having time to focus on me and enjoy the many fruits of my labors. But all good things must end so time to strap up my boots and get back in the game. Big adventures ahead #justdowork
WWE Superstars are still given their downside guarantees during those three months after their release. So, it’s not like WWE isn’t paying them, because they are still technically employees during that time. This is why they can’t appear anywhere else for those 90 days.
We will have to see what Shelton Benjamin does next in his career. He could have a few options out there, because a veteran with his abilities could be plugged into a number of situations.
