CM Punk’s comeback at the Survivor Series Premium Live Event ended up turning the whole pro wrestling world on its head because no one could believe he would ever come back in the first place. Fans are getting adjusted now as Punk already appeared on all WWE shows so far. Now Booker T responded to rumors of Punk possibly taking over NXT in the future.
The Second City Saint previously teased showing up at the NXT Deadline Premium Live Event, which certainly got fans talking. He would then actually show up and have a segment with Shawn Michaels.
CM Punk was backstage on the December 12th edition of NXT television and before that as well. He has also paid a visit to the WWE Performance Center. Reports have suggested that CM Punk could be considering an NXT leadership role in the future.
While speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, NXT announcer Booker T responded to rumors that CM Punk will take over NXT. Booker T made it clear that won’t be happening anytime soon.
“They were saying that’s not something that is going to happen anytime soon. That’s something years down the road because Shawn Michaels doesn’t plan on going anywhere anytime soon. He was saying, just the way he’s feeling, being around the group and being around the young talent. Knowing what it felt like to be young and hungry like that, wanting to be in a system like that, as well as being a mentor in the system like that.
That kind of stuff, when you get to a certain point in your life, for me, I get a lot out of working with the NXT guys and I feel a whole lot better when I go to NXT as opposed to just being at SmackDown and Raw because I know I’m not doing anything, I can’t contribute as much to those guys on the show. Those guys are working. At NXT, these guys are learning and trying to figure it out. I can give advice here, give advice here. For me, I think that’s what he’s feeling, being down there because it is uplifting be part of the system down there. Those guys give you that kind of energy.”
Punk was extremely pleasant to everyone at the WWE Performance Center, as he is determined to help out younger talent in the company. We’ll have to see what the future holds for The Second City Saint, as things look bright for him now.
