MJF is truly one of the best pro wrestlers on the planet right now for good reason. Many also agree that he is a major star with the potential to transcend all of professional wrestling in good time. He also met up with John Cena at ‘The Iron Claw’ premiere recently and MJF has now revealed what he and Cena talked about.
In case you didn’t know, MJF snagged a role in the upcoming movie ‘The Iron Claw,’ a flick that delves into the dramatic story of the legendary Von Erich family. MJF steps into the shoes of Lance Von Erich, a character with some kayfabe connection to the Von Erich family. The Salt of The Earth also has an additional role as an Executive Producer for the movie.
In anticipation of the worldwide release of the movie, a red carpet event was held recently, which featured MJF alongside some noteworthy WWE Superstars at the screening. This included MJF meeting up with none other than John Cena, as the two seemed to have a good chat.
While speaking on the SI Media podcast, The Salt of The Earth talked about meeting up with John Cena at ‘The Iron Claw’ premiere and revealed what they talked about, which was mostly appreciating each other’s works.
”We’re two guys that are both massive fans of each other’s work. He loves what I’m doing in AEW, I obviously love everything that he’s done in professional wrestling as a whole. He’s a — easily, a first-ballot Hall of Famer and I believe that — literally, I am a Hall of Famer but I believe that I am also soon-to-be a first-ballot professional wrestling Hall of Famer as well and we exchanged pleasantries and we talked and discussed about, you know, how we’re fans of each other’s work and I told him straight up, I find him to be an absolute inspiration. What he’s been able to do with Make-A-Wish with all these kids and also what he’s been able to do, completely transcend outside the professional wrestling sport and landscape is something that I’ve begun to do as well and I’m really proud of that and I don’t think I’d be able to do that without following the footsteps of these major giants in professional wrestling history like him, like Batista, like The Rock. If it’s not for these guys, they wouldn’t take me seriously as an actor.”
John Cena recently concluded his WWE stint at the Crown Jewel premium live event, where he faced Solo Sikoa and suffered a loss. MJF is also confident WWE won’t put a leash on his potential, so we’ll have to wait and see if he will ever go to WWE in the end.
