MJF has honed his craft as a pro wrestler over the years, as his dedication to his role is truly second to none for many fans. He is the AEW World Champion right now and has already made history in the company. MJF recently claimed that he hasn’t re-signed with AEW and now WWE’s internal response to this statement has been revealed.
The Salt of the Earth previously revealed that he will go where the money is after his current AEW contract ends in 2023. MJF even said that there will be a bidding war for him in 2024.
As previously reported, the AEW World Champion insisted that he has not re-signed with Tony Khan’s company even now, as his contract will expire on January 1st, 2024. Naturally, this made many people feel he would lose at AEW Worlds End to Samoa Joe.
According to Nick Hausman at Haus of Wrestling, it was reported that one WWE higher-up feels it is nothing but a storyline. Another higher-up noted that they heard MJF had re-signed last year and believe it happened before his return at AEW All Out 2022.
”One higher-up WWE source responded simply with “storyline.”’ Another higher-up source at WWE reiterated that they heard Friedman had re-signed last year and believe it happened before his return at AEW All Out 2022 as The Devil. They went on to say that Friedman is “locked in” and got a huge deal when he re-negotiated his contract with Tony Khan last year.’‘
MJF is also confident WWE won’t put a leash on his potential. MJF also told WWE talent that he is looking forward to joining the company in 2024. Regardless, it remains to be seen what MJF will do in the end.
