CM Punk has been a huge draw after returning to WWE at Survivor Series last month and it is evident fans and pro writers alike are glad to see him back in the company. He also has a lot of respect for John Cena and commented on his iconic feud with John Cena, stating that they were ‘married.’
The Second City Saint has appeared on Monday Night RAW, Friday Night SmackDown, and NXT Deadline after he returned to the company last month. It has become quite clear that Punk is simply a major draw for the company and he is just happy being there after almost a decade.
CM Punk has feuded with the likes of John Cena during his time in WWE and fans simply loved their feud over the years. After all, Punk’s iconic match with John Cena at Money In The Bank 2011 truly changed WWE in many ways and the subsequent matches after that as well.
While speaking to Elite Comics11 for a live stream on Instagram, CM Punk talked about his feud with John Cena. Punk claimed that he and John Cena were married during their feud and put over Cena once again.
“Now I’m here [in WWE] and then being trusted enough to work with John Cena pretty much every day, every night for quite some time,” said Punk. “We were married to each other and it was always a night off and it was always easy.
When you’re tasked with working with the guy who pretty much is the engine that makes the company go at that point, it’s kind of just like, ‘Okay, I figured it out then.’ I was like, “Alright, I know. They trust me enough and I’m not gonna do anything stupid, I’m not gonna hurt the guy.’
It’s always good and it’s quality and it was fun and it was different and they trusted me to keep it different and it wasn’t the same thing all the time.”
John Cena also acknowledged CM Punk’s return at Survivor Series as well. Regardless, we will have to wait and see whether Punk and John Cena will ever reunite now that Punk is back in WWE for good.
