WWE Hall of Famer Afa Anoa’i, renowned as one-half of the iconic Wild Samoans tag team, recently underwent two exploratory heart procedures to assess the condition of his heart valves. At 81 years old, Afa faced a medical evaluation that led to these interventions.
Currently, Afa Anoa’i is waiting for a follow-up appointment later this week, during which medical professionals will chart the next steps in managing his heart health. Despite the uncertainty, Afa has returned to the comfort of his home and appears to be in good spirits.
An update shared on Afa’s official Facebook account showed off his resilience and positive outlook. Describing the procedures, Afa stated, “I kicked out before the 1!” The follow-up appointment, scheduled for the 20th, will provide more insights as it could potentially lead to a valve replacement.
The update mentioned his involvement in preparing for an upcoming seminar at WXW Wrestling in Minneola, Florida, scheduled for January 13. Additionally, WXW Wrestling has planned a live wrestling event on February 17, where proceeds will be directed towards supporting the Alzheimer’s Association.
“Yesterday Afa had two exploratory heart procedures to check his valves. In his own words: “I kicked out before the 1!” He is home and doing very well. Nothing keeps a Wild Samoan down! His follow up appointment is on the 20th to go over next steps. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he may need a valve replacement. But he’s up and at it, working hard on the WXW Seminar on January 13th and the first show of the year, February 17th, with proceeds to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. Afa was joking with and signing autographs for the hospital staff.”
Despite health challenges, the WWE Hall of Famer remains resilient and determined, which is clear as day in his positive attitude and ongoing contributions to the wrestling community. We hope things will go well for his health.
