Edge shocked the world after he made the move to join All Elite Wrestling as Adam Copeland. Given how massively successful previous WWE stars have emerged in AEW, with Jon Moxley, Chris Jericho and Sting being all mainstay names, Copeland’s move consolidated the trend even further. However, his wife, Beth Phoenix, who has been a part of WWE, is also expected to join the Tony Khan promotion.
A very interesting update on this front has been discussed recently. In a recent Q&A session, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select was asked whether Phoenix would be joining AEW as well. He replied by saying that while it is a topic of discussion in AEW backstage, he isn’t sure whether it is even a possibility.
“I know its been brought up people backstage but I don’t know if it’s a possibility.”
Previously, many fans associated Phoenix’s absence from WWE programming to be a sign that she would be joining AEW. Mike Johnson from PWInsider then opposed this speculation by pointing out that Beth Phoenix has always made intermittent appearances in WWE.
No, I don’t think there’s a connection there. There were lots of periods where she was off TV and then returned. I would think that when they have a storyline or an angle or a broadcast assignment for her, she’ll be back.
What’s your take on Beth Phoenix’s WWE absence? Do you think she will be making an AEW debut any time soon? Let us know in the comments.
