Braun Strowman is currently recovering from a neck injury, which he received in early June. The big brawler underwent a cervical spinal fusion surgery, and his in-ring return still seems distant. However, that doesn’t mean that Strowman isn’t setting his eyes on an opponent he wants to take on.
During a conversation with News 18, Strowman wants to have ‘another go’ against GUNTHER. He spoke about GUNTHER with praise and said that he’s one of about four people who’ve been able to pin him to the mat to the count of three. He also credited GUNTHER as ‘the greatest Intercontinental Champion that WWE has ever had’.
I would love to have another go at GUNTHER. He’s one of what, four men that have ever been able to put my shoulders to the mat for three? And I give kudos to him. What he’s done with the Intercontinental Championship. He has completely elevated [the title], higher than it’s ever been elevated before. In my opinion, he’s the greatest Intercontinental Champion that WWE has ever had, and he’s brought prestige to that title.
During the conversation, Strowman also spoke about the late WWE star Bray Wyatt. He credited Wyatt as someone whose support has been instrumental in taking him to where he is today. Moreover, he said that behind the mask, Wyatt was “a family man, never met a stranger and kind to everyone’. He also noted that he is a godfather to his son and feels honoured to have been chosen by Wyatt for the same.
He’s one of the greatest human beings that has ever stepped foot on this earth. When you see this scary character and stuff like that, the ‘FIEND’ and everything that Bray Wyatt’s done, if you get to meet the man that was behind the mask — to say, a family man, never met a stranger, and kind to everyone, and something that I aspire to be.
Strowman also teased during the interview that “a whole new monster is coming back.” What do you think about Strowman’s choice of competition? Let us know your thoughts on a possible GUNTHER vs. Braun Strowman match below.
