The AEW universe has been eagerly awaiting the return of Kyle O’Reilly, the tag team maestro who’s been on the sidelines for approximately 18 long months.
After undergoing neck fusion surgery in 2022, things took an unexpected turn, causing delays in his comeback.
Recent reports from Fightful Select indicate that there’s still no concrete timeline for O’Reilly’s return to the squared circle. However, there’s a silver lining to this situation. O’Reilly has been spotted backstage at some recent AEW events, which means he’s well enough to hit the road and be a part of the action again.
“We’re told Kyle O’Reilly has been backstage recently and is looking like he could return to programming after a period of it looking quite unlikely.”
Despite this positive development, AEW hasn’t yet mapped out any creative plans for O’Reilly. Understandable, given the lengthy absence he’s had. Nevertheless, fans can’t help but hope that O’Reilly’s return to in-ring action isn’t too far off, and that he’ll soon be back to doing what he does best in the AEW ring!
