Two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair is well respected by many in the business, but he is still a very controversial name there as well. Many people aren’t happy about his joining AEW and that was made evident after he got a lot of backlash last week following a controversial line. It was eventually edited out of AEW Rampage last week and now the backstage reaction to the cut line has been revealed.

Sting and Ric Flair appeared together for a segment during the AEW Rampage taping last week, where fans in attendance raised a hue and cry on social media for a Ric Flair promo, where he had a lot of controversial things to say.

Flair invited all the women in the audience from ages 18-28 to meet him in his hotel room. No boyfriends or husbands.”

This led to a lot of backlash from fans on social media, criticizing AEW for allowing Flair to say such things. Due to the backlash, Ric Flair made it clear he was willing to walk away from AEW.

According to Sean Ross Sapp behind Fightful’s paywall, the decision to edit out the controversial line was something that AEW was aware they were going to have to do almost instantly.

Flair doesn’t advise younger wrestlers for good reason. He is also willing to take a table bump in AEW, so we will have to wait and see how the company will continue to use him in the coming weeks.
