CM Punk’s return at the Survivor Series Premium Live Event became a significant event in pro wrestling history for many reasons. After all, no one expected him to return to WWE considering how he left the company in 2014. He followed it up with a promo on RAW last week – to mixed responses. Even Kevin Nash felt Punk’s promo felt very contrived.
A lot of things took place during last week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, as new storylines were being built up. CM Punk also closed out the show with his first WWE promo in almost 10 years, where he spoke his mind about numerous things.
While speaking on his Kliq This podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash talked about CM Punk’s return promo on RAW. Nash felt it wasn’t what CM Punk was all about and added that it felt very contrived.
“I thought the glad-handing on the way to the ring was not him. I just thought that, for somebody that is so ‘Pipebomb,’ it just felt very contrived. And then at the end, ‘Oh s**t, I better slip this in so I have some credibility: I’m not here to make friends, I’m here to make money.’ I’ve heard that before.”
WWE might also test CM Punk’s changed behavior with his first major feud. CM Punk is set to make his appearance on this week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown as well. It remains to be seen how The Second City Saint will be booked in the coming months.
