CM Punk made a lot of noise when he returned to WWE, and many fans were expecting a pipe bomb. That didn’t happen with his RAW return promo, and there is a reason why he was silent about his former employer. Any perceived shade was not intentional, because he avoided AEW and everyone involved, entirely.
Fans were curious about CM Punk’s silence regarding AEW during his WWE RAW return promo on November 27th after almost a decade away from the company.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, CM Punk and others entered into multiple nondisclosure agreements concerning public discussions about one another. A clear separation has been maintained between AEW and CM Punk in every aspect, including refraining from discussing each other.
For those wondering or disappointed that Punk said nothing about AEW, it’s because both he and others have signed several NDA’s regarding talking publicly about the other.
Tony Khan, when questioned about Punk’s return to WWE in the days following Survivor Series, also clarified that he is legally bound from commenting on CM Punk’s return to WWE. He said that he can’t legally comment on it, and dodged the question in a big way.
We will have to see if CM Punk or AEW ever drop allusions to each other again. CM Punk wants to put that period of his career in the past, as he is in a much better mood, with a fresh start, in WWE.
