The AEW World Champion MJF never shies away from stirring the pot, and on the recent Thanksgiving episode of AEW Dynamite in Chicago, he couldn’t resist mentioning the Windy City’s very own, CM Punk.

During his address to the crowd alongside his ROH tag team partner, Adam Cole, MJF first reflected on his hard-fought matches at Full Gear, particularly his title bout with “Switchblade” Jay White, where he retained his title despite suffering a dislocated shoulder. When Samoa Joe interrupted and demanded a rematch, MJF had a cheeky response: “Blow me!” But he didn’t stop there.

MJF decided to poke fun at his past encounters with CM Punk, saying, “You wouldn’t be the first ROH legend I beat here in Chicago, twice.”

This reference harked back to MJF and Punk’s first-ever singles match last February at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, ahead of their epic Dog Collar match at AEW Revolution. In that initial match, MJF tried to pull a fast one by using his wrist tape to choke out Punk, momentarily securing a win. However, the referee caught on to MJF’s tactics, and the match continued. Ultimately, Wardlow’s interference and the use of the Dynamite Diamond Ring allowed MJF to knock out Punk and secure the victory once and for all.

Interestingly, Samoa Joe was CM Punk’s last opponent in AEW, facing off at the inaugural AEW All In event at Wembley Stadium in London for the “Real World Championship.”

With the AEW World Champion MJF and former two-time TNT Champion Samoa Joe set to clash at the upcoming Worlds End pay-per-view in Long Island, New York, the stakes are high.

Joe even promised MJF that he would serve as his security until the event, ensuring he arrives in one piece for their title match. This promise not only speaks to Joe’s determination to win fairly but also references MJF’s history as “security” for the NXT Champion at NXT TakeOver Brooklyn: II, where he comically got pushed into a wall. The tension is building, and fans can’t wait to see what unfolds next in this rivalry!

What do you think about the ongoing rivalry between MJF and Samoa Joe, and how do you think it will impact the upcoming AEW Worlds End pay-per-view in Long Island, New York? Leave us a comment.
