Mercedes Mone’s presence in the crowd at AEW All In sparked speculation about a potential move to Tony Khan’s company. WWE also removed her from a video package after that. However, the former WWE Superstar has not officially joined the AEW roster, and there may be a specific reason for the delay.

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer hinted that AEW could be postponing Mercedes Mone’s debut until she fully recovers from her current injury. Mone suffered an ankle injury during NJPW STRONG Resurgence in May and has been in the process of recuperation since then.

Mercedes Mone was initially slated to compete at All In, but her injury prevented her from participating in the historic event. Nevertheless, the relationship between Mone and AEW is reportedly quite positive, with her being open to working with the promotion. Kris Statlander has also indicated that the AEW women’s locker room is eager to face Mone, suggesting that her future matches in the company are anticipated.

The former WWE Superstar made her return to the squared circle at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17, confronting Kairi after the IWGP Women’s Championship match. Mercedes Mone captured the title at NJPW Battle in the Valley the following month, but eventually lost it at STARDOM All-Star Grand Queendom in April.

Mercedes Mone is not the only former WWE Superstar associated with AEW recently. Ronda Rousey teamed up with Marina Shaffir for an ROH on HonorClub episode, and Tony Khan has expressed interest in collaborating with her again. However, Dave Meltzer believes that Rousey’s appearance was a one-time occurrence, as she left WWE to prioritize her family, making it unlikely for her to commit to another company.

We will have to see how long it takes for Mercedes Mone to make some kind of move in the pro wrestling business. She may be healing up, so fans might not have to wait long. Only time will tell what happens in this situation, but it is pretty evident that things are looking like she will have a lot of momentum whenever that day comes.
